Article summary

Some customer data needs to be masked for security and privacy reason such as national ID numbers, passwords, and credit card numbers. You can create Attributes and configure them to always hide this data during a session.

Character masking is supported for the following types of Attributes:

  • Text

  • Numbers

For Attributes where character masking is defined, the value is hidden in the agent preview and in all completed documents. The full value is revealed in the customer Form and in the Workflow completed event in the customerData parameter.

To mask characters for an Attribute:

  1. In the Form builder, click the add (+) icon to add an Attribute field and click Create new Attribute.
    The Create Attribute window opens.

  2. Define all the parameters for the Attribute.

  3. Turn on Allow masking for this Attribute.
    The masking settings appear.

  4. Select either Full or Partial masking.

  5. Select how many characters to show/hide and what special character to use as the mask.
